The United Arab Emirates strongly condemns the Israeli police’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the assault and arrest of worshipers, and renews its firm position on the need to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and stop the gross and provocative violations it witnesses.
In a related context, the UAE stresses the need to respect Jordan’s role in caring for holy sites and not to prejudice the authority of the Jerusalem endowment administration, the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the existing historical situation.
It calls on the Israeli authorities to stop the escalation and avoid exacerbating tension and instability in the region, while rejecting all practices that violate international legitimacy resolutions and threaten to exacerbate further escalation.
In this regard, this comes as an “emphasis on the need to respect Jordan’s role in the care of holy sites, and the Emirati government stresses the importance of compatibility with international law and the existing historical situation, and not to interfere in the authority of the powers of managing the endowments of Jerusalem and the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
