The date of Eid Al-Fitr for the year 1444 AH, corresponding to 2023 AD, was officially announced by Dr. Jad Al-Qadi, President of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research.
And Dr. Jad Al-Qadi confirmed, in an official statement issued by the institute, that Eid Al-Fitr will be on Friday, April 21, 2023 AD, and its prayers will be at 5:47 am Greater Cairo time.

According to astronomical calculations made by the Institute’s Sun Research Laboratory, the crescent of the month of Shawwal will be born immediately after the conjunction occurs at exactly six o’clock and 14:00 a.m. local Cairo time, on Thursday, Ramadan 29, 1444 AH, corresponding to 4/20/2023 AD (the day of sighting).
Based on these calculations, the new crescent will remain in the sky of Makkah Al-Mukarramah for a period of 23 minutes, and in Cairo for a period of 27 minutes after sunset on that day (the day of sighting), and in the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the new crescent will remain in its sky for periods ranging between (24-29 minutes). .
