The British media indicated and showed the absence of the Spanish player, Thiago Alcantara, the Liverpool midfielder, from the remaining matches of the season, after suffering a thigh problem that required minor surgery.

Alcantara participated with the team in 28 matches in all competitions during the current season, and returned to the stadiums recently after an absence of two months due to a problem in the hip joint.

The Spanish player is expected to miss several Premier League matches against Fulham, Brentford, Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton, as his team seeks to finish the season in the Golden Square.

Liverpool ranks fifth in the standings table with 56 points from 33 games, seven points behind Manchester United, which ranks fourth and has one game less.
