"We are currently looking at how to develop Internet infrastructure in two to three years," said Corcoran.

In their research, the team indicated, they used a new device that replaces 80 lasers with one piece of equipment known as a small comb, which is smaller and lighter than existing communications devices.

The laser works by stimulating the emission of photons from excited atoms or molecules.

It is used for drilling, cutting, alignment, direction and in surgery; Optical properties are also exploited for stereoscopy, barcode reading, and for CD recording and playback.
